new xuqa toolbar

hello earth, we're testing a new xuqa toolbar and would love your feedback. this is what it looks like:

It has links to your most frequently visited xuqa pages (profile, scrapbook, friends) as well as direct search options to find your xuqa friends and search the web. And it plays music for free too! This has been co-developed by our friends at Bizbar, and its 100% spyware and virus and other bullshit free. You can try it out here.

Try the new xuqa toolbar.

I would really love to hear what you're thinking! Talk back, and hey, happy 4th of July! Live it up this weekend :)

Interesting article

Fred Stutzman has posted an excellent article about social networking, which discusses Xuqa and other promising social networks. Personally, I'm impressed by Fred's insights into monetization and game mechanics, which I think are key to the future of social networks. Its rare for an outsider to focus on these things, kudos to Fred! :)

Updates...

Since my last post, we've been going full steam on XuQa 2.0 development. Few updates to watch out for:
1. Some time in the next 2 weeks, we will release an alpha version of Peanut Poker (suggestions for a better name are welcome) on this blog.
2. Product specifications for XuQa 2.0 are almost finalized. Development will begin sometime late next week. Once we have some screen shots, i'll post them here.

Ranking for people based on profile views

The concept: Everyone has profiles on multiple sites. Some people are more popular than others. Want to see how you rank up against your friends in terms of popularity on different sites (profile views). This app will aggregate your profile views from multiple sites (xuqa, myspace, xanga, blogger) and will combine them into one uniform number. Simply punch in your friends email to see who wins the popularity contest. Oh and every profile view will also get you a peanut! Your thoughts and comments are veyr welcome (we're still in the brainstorming stage).

note: Graphs are from alexa (very useful site for website owners)

Top Nav

I was playing around with different ideas for a simplified top navigation bar and ripped one of Orkut... lols.. how does a simple text top nav sound?

Below is a mockup Amyn made today (his final one for the day me thinks). Thinking if simplifying the main login page (inspiration: google, duh!)

Apologies and moving forward

To all XuQa users:
On behalf of the XuQa team, we apologize for not keeping everyone updated on XuQa product developments. We really should have spent more time discussing product plans and taking feedback from you all. Moving forward we promise to update this blog atleast once a week, with product plans, screen shots and to contantly respond to your input.

Some updates on the XuQa team:
We've relocated fully to San Francisco (have our own offices now!), spent long hours figuring out how to make XuQa better, revamped peanut poker and more. Following are some preliminary screen shots from the new poker interface.

the end of podcasting. say hello to my cell phone.

Here are the 3 of us, waiting and bored in an office lobby. The security guy didn't like us much :p

No more Xuqa podcasts - audio only is too much of a bore, and don't know about you guys but frankly I can't listen to the same thing for 20 minutes. Yes, I can't listen to myself anymore :p

This is my new cell phone, and it has a great 1.3MP camera. I figure other people have decent cameras on cell phones too. So I'll be using my phone (and I hope you'll use yours!) to start a series of Xuqa Videos. Hit me up on Xuqa if you want in :p

"I believe that end user facing Internet companies can (n)ever predict if they will get traction with any resonable accuracy.

They just need to launch, listen, learn, and change." - Munjal

Spot on. Well done on the continuing Riya story series!
